Not to be contradictory though 2N1ce Productions makes great points. The A still dominates maybe not with the same quality but still dominiates. Just like the lakers they didnt blow people out but they still won when it counts the A aint gonna blow everyone out the water probably no more but they are still winning. Its always a new contender coming and that i believe is LA.

Why must atl be saved maybe it's just time for another area to break some new talent and sound. It does happen people why be alarmed. Look at nj/nyc we were responsible for the biggest hits from the 90s. Please don't argue me that fact it's proven. But now who is coming from here anymore. Right now My ears has always told me that the next few years the sound is coming from LA and the west coast. It all goes in cycles. If you producers are smart you will start going the LA and making some contacts. They sound is dope and hard. They not doing that snare rolls and 808 kicks either. Trust me it's coming from LA so get yall tickets and stop letting newbies waste they money and move to atl. ATL is lovely trust me but the music has shifted.

Whts good JD true lier on deck. I've heard and read a lot of people comments and pages and no one seems to realize tht wht u guys do is not only a job but it is a talent and gift. Not to mention that some of us would give up there arm or leg to be able to wake up and say they make good music for a living. My name is Retro Young and I'm addicted to the music industry and Jordan sneakers. I been thru a lot of shit, I used to be homeless and what kept me sane was my kicks and good music. You like a lot of other producers and members of the oceans 7 got me thru my nigga and some entertainers get a bad rep or don't really try to give back or try new things and get acts. Ive watched every episode on my mobile to keep up with so so def and living the life for the longest now and it inspires me to keep dreaming and fighting to make it. I got a crazy sound that's different and no one else out there is doing wht I'm doing, I pride myself on my sneaker box's. I call my music tracks that because everybody knows the feeling when u put on and get to ur footwear and it just brings a smile to ur day no matter wht you where going thru. Ant thts the feeling I want people to have when they hear my sound. Oceans 7 is definately in a heavy weight catergory and I hope u guys are really understanding that some artist just wanna be heard like you and I wanna get down (nohomo) but so so def I think could be the home for a niga like me cuz y'all think outside the box and I crune and rap, but I just call it sneaker music. I have some music on WEMIX.COM but the quality isn't great becuz I'm not caking it like y'all niggas but I spit and I can write songs and consistency to me is more important. I will end it like this I'm a lifer and to me that means imma chase the chance for my music to be played on the radio, for me to perform on tour or even to put my first album in stores 4 LIFE. So oceans keep paveing the way for young black artist like myself and maybe one day y'all might take a sec to listen to some Retro Young and u might hear wht I'm doing is real and ginuwine and wanna give the kid in love with his duece tres a chance. So in advance I wanna say thank you to living the life with JD and the Ocean 7...if u have time myspace.com/jumpmanclick...got some sneakers on there too...yo I wonder if gentry humphrey would present MJ with a proposition of signing a musical artist that raps about retro sneakers...hmmmm nobody ever molded there carrer around shoes before, just like MJ I'm thinking a strong 6 albums to match those 6 rings

Real quick... Im from the A (but live in mass now) and im wondering if you know where most of your favorite acts are from... Hip hop is a mix between rap and R&B...correct me if im wrong... since thats why singers and rappers are both conciderd "Hip-Hop" So we gotta add some singing into this as well. but look at the radio right now... id say 75% of radio play has an artist from ATL!! The Dream, T Pain, Akon, Keri Hilson, TI, Luda, Yung Joc, Young Jeezy, Usher, DJ Drama, (as much as i hate to admitt it...) Soulja Boy, ect... and then we have the "up-and-comers" - Yung LA, OJ, and id add Gorilla Zoe, Young Dro, Gucci, ect.. cause they havent "hit" yet.

Granted... This is far from the years of TLC, Monica, Cee-lo, Pastor Troy, and that group of artists. But Outkasts aint going no where! JD aint going no where, Usher aint going no where.... Get my point??

Name a city where you have as many people from one place getting play like the A!!!

And yes... times have changed... so were not getting "southernplayalistic" anymore... But if your hatin.... Your city isnt doin "that" anymore either and your city is STILL two steps behind the A!! Thank you!!

Say what you want.. But the A is still the A!!

Shocka!

all this super non lyricism tight pant so called futuristic only can play in a club type music is hurting my city. JD I know you hate alot of this shit because you were bred from a more musical era. That being said you and others like outkast,t.i.,luda,jeezy and a couple others need to stop acting like wack ass artists like rich kidz, shop boyz and young L.a. and a whole lot of others are good for the game. You see when yall say that shit either its because your a coward or you are stupid. We all know that shit sucks and that the rap environment is getting overwhelmed by undertalented acts.Any buisness, ideal or movement that strays too far from its foundation is doomed for certain failure, and i must say we have strayed too far from our true hiphop base.
SPEAK ON THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

JD...,
I just aired out XXL magazine for that bullshit cover that down... It went something like this!!!!

Man this cover was absolute bullshit...I live my the mantra if you're gonna do it...Do IT!!! If you are gonna dedicate a whole cover issue to a city that has a deft and incomparable music scene as Atlanta, you have to really make an effort in trying to tap into the local scene and not just ride with what the radio gives you...The July 2009 cover story should have been complete with a time line that bridged the gap from the past to the present, and that brings readers up to speed with Atlanta's evolution

For instance you guys should have started with the bass music era with legends such as Raheem the Dream, Kilo Ali, Playa pancho, and Sammy Sam...

Then transition to the JD Era ( no one person can discount what JD has done for the music scene in Atlanta and the urban music industry as it stands today) with artist such as Kriss Kross, Da BRAT, I NO J, and So So Def Bass allstars, and Dallas Austin also gave us ABC.

Then lets transition to the Laface Records era...Outkast, Goodie Mob, TLC then you had offsetting them acts like Ghetto Mafia even Baby D and other Oomp Camp artists

Then the Crunk era with Pastor Troy, Lil John, Killer Mike, Lil Scrappy, Trill Ville, and Bonecrusher

then transition to T.I, Ludacris, and Young Jeezy...

i dont discount the movement that S. Beezy has or discount what Gucci, LO, and OJ have going on however...your mag grossly over looked prime time talent when you didnt include ( Young Dro, Young LA, B.o.B, Playaz Circle, J-Money, Young Ralph...The next time your mag does a story about my city it my be a good idea to interview radio legends like Ryan Cameron, or even Gregg Street to a certain degree...

this seems to boil down to STANDARDS and CALIBER! I love ATL, but it is different now. people dont seem to want to hear much depth or shit that makes much sense. But to each, there OWN. in todays age, you have to give people what they want in order to give them what they need. prime example: Drake, "Every Girl" by Young Money was dropped and added way before "Best I Ever Had." Every Girl does a lot for Drake because he has lil Wayne leading him and the song really isnt about much, but fucking. Then he hit em with a 360 with "Best I ever had" because it means more than fucking a hoe, its showing emotion towards a special girl. Thus, the hood loves "Every Girl" while the hipsters love "Best I ever had." NOW EVERYONE IS TRYNA GET ON THE DRAKE WAGON. I like music! its all about thought and introduction. SO GIVE EM WHAT THEY WANT SO U CAN GIVE EM WHAT THEY NEED!!

oh yeah, i think someone made a comment about this earlier. what happened to the artist nurturing portion of the industry (im not saying that correctly, but u get what im hinting at)... A Lil Bow Wow couldnt of become a Bow Wow without JD. Same as lil Wayne and Baby. the list goes on. people arent properly investing in artists like they used to and they wonder why they only get a ONE-HIT WONDER! Jd, you the mayor and you gotta let know how to run the city.

I still love ATL though, i love my black folks!!!!
